Visa Application Guidance

Welcome to the 61st ABU General Assembly and Associated Meetings hosted by TRT! To facilitate your participation, we have compiled essential information regarding the visa application process for Türkiye. Please find below the guidance and relevant links for each participating country.

General Information

Visitors who are not exempt from entry visas must obtain their visas or schedule an appointment with Turkish consular offices via the Pre-Application System for Turkish Sticker Visa (www.visa.gov.tr). Applicants who meet the requirements will be directed by the Pre-Application System for Turkish Sticker Visa to the e-Visa system (www.evisa.gov.tr). In countries where Türkiye does not have a consular representation, applicants can use online scheduling for appointments with the nearest accredited consular office of Türkiye.

Types of Visas

  1. Sticker Visa

A sticker visa is a traditional visa affixed to a page of your passport by a Turkish consulate or embassy. This type of visa generally allows for multiple purposes, such as tourism and business. It is more widely accepted for various types of travel, including official and business visits, and provides a physical record in your passport. However, obtaining a sticker visa requires a visit to the Turkish consulate or embassy, involves longer processing times compared to e-visas, and can be more bureaucratic, requiring more documentation and in-person interviews.

Please ensure that you allow enough time for your visa application to be processed, as it is recommended to apply at least one month before your planned travel date.

  1. E-Visa

An e-visa is an electronic visa that is applied for and received online. It is suitable for short stays for tourism and business purposes. The e-visa application process is convenient and can be completed online. The processing time is usually faster, often within minutes or a few days, and there is no need to visit a consulate or embassy in person. However, e-visas are limited to specific purposes, mainly tourism and short-term business visits. They are not suitable for certain types of official or extended business stays and may not be compatible with invitation letters from TRT for non-touristic purposes.

 Important Notes:

  1. A passport or passport substitute document valid for at least 60 days after the expiry of the visa, visa exemption or residence permit period is required from foreigners arriving to enter our country.
  2. Please note that if you apply for an e-visa for tourism purposes, the invitation letters or supporting documents from TRT may not be applicable. For participants attending the organization, a sticker visa is recommended to ensure proper documentation and support for your visit.
  3. Please make sure you allow enough time for your visa application to be processed and approved. To avoid inconveniences caused by delays in processing, it is recommended to apply for visas at least one month in advance before the planned travel. Visa fees are non-refundable if applications are rejected.
  4. All applicants are required to have medical insurance valid during their stay in Türkiye.
  5. Please note that the fee for obtaining an e-Visa is generally cheaper than the visa fees charged at the border.
  6. The length of stay provided by a visa or visa exemption cannot exceed 90 days within each 180 days. This regulation is binding for all foreigners traveling to Türkiye.
  7. Holders of blue UN travel documents may apply for a visa exemption with a 90-day stay within the preceding 180 days during official visits. Red UN travel document holders are exempt from entry visas and may stay in Türkiye for 90 days within the preceding 180 days regardless of their purpose of visit.
  8. If there is no diplomatic representation of Türkiye in a country, the citizen of the subject country should arrange the application appointments with the nearest Turkish Embassy or Consulate. This will usually be the representative offices in neighboring countries.
